PURPOSE:
GerrAudio Distribution Inc. is searching for a competent Technical Sales Representative with well-developed sales skills and a strong history of closing deals. This role will actively manage a sales territory for all of GerrAudio’s test and measurement products, and plan and execute sales development activities that are in alignment with the strategic directly of the company and its supplier partners.
This position is responsible for retaining current customers as well as developing and attracting new customers. Successful candidate will be charged with learning and selling current products and new products, keeping abreast of new technologies, recommending/sharing changes and trends seen in the field and meeting sales goals in targeted markets. Must be able to fully demonstrate the operation (feature/benefit) of all test and measurement devices in the GerrAudio product portfolio.
The successful candidate must work to consistently enhance the company’s reputation for first class service and support.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develops and services assigned territory, including geographic region proposed
- Actively and consistently seeks new customers within all relevant market segments
- Researches customers’ needs and resolves problems by providing technical support by person, be email and/or by phone
- Visits customers and potential customers to develop relationships, follow-up on leads, provide on-site and virtual product demonstrations in order to close sales opportunities
- Meets or exceeds established sales/revenue targets
- Achieves key metrics (customer visits per week, prospect visits per week, demonstrations conducted)
- Delivers professional and relevant sales presentations and closes sales in a professional manner
- Inputs customer activities, competitive intelligence and industry information daily using CRM (Odoo) software
- Follows-up in a timely manner (within 24-hours max) to voicemail and email requests from customers, suppliers, management, peers and other internal and external contacts
- Manages major accounts; establishes long-term, ongoing relationships with multiple people in a customer’s organization
- Travels with internal colleagues, external supplier sales personnel as well as alone to visit end-user customers
- Assists with the planning of, and attends, relevant industry and distributor trade shows
- Provides feedback to internal teams as well as with sales peers regarding competition, pricing and marketing opportunities
- Maintains and shares an understanding of industry trends and technical developments that affect target markets
- Provides special updates to Management when appropriate or requested
- Participates in scheduled Sales Conference calls
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelors degree in mechanical, electrical or acoustical engineering, or equivalent in a related field
- 5+ years of field sales experience or equivalent within the acoustical / test & measurement market
- Well-developed sales skills
- Ability to make decisions and evaluations to determine the needs of customers
- Ability to travel at least 30% of the time (locally, domestically and internationally)
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in both technical and business terms
- Excellent customer relations skills
- Obtains working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, etc.), Google office applications (Gmail, Google Drive, Google Sheets, Google Docs, etc.) and Apple functions (MAC operations, Keynote, etc.), as well as experience working with a CRM tool to manage customer engagements and run sales reports
- Knowledge of target market industries and rolodex of key potential customers and industry leaders within the geographic boundaries of the role is highly desirable
- Able to be flexible, multi-task and work independently while being cooperative and supportive as a member of a small team
- Valid Class G Ontario Driver’s License that is maintained and in good standing in order to drive the company vehicles (while not negatively impacting the company’s automobile insurance premiums)
- Ownership of, or ability to frequently use a personal vehicle for business travel (expenses reimbursed)
- Bondable and/or able to produce/secure a Police Record Search Certificate
- Ownership of, or ability to obtain, a valid Canadian Passport and to travel freely into the USA and abroad
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Required to work min. 40 hours per week, 8:30am-5pm, Monday – Friday
- Weekly travel to visit customers and/or suppliers and to attend Company sales initiatives (Tradeshows) is required
- Remote position however frequent visits to the company’s HQ in Brockville, Ontario will be required
