In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

Graduation with a Master’s Degree or Doctorate from a recognized post-secondary institution with specialization in engineering, chemistry, physics, materials science or some other specialty relevant to the position.
1. The courses for the specialization must be acceptable and must have been taken at a recognized post-secondary institution, but not necessarily within a degree program in the required specialization.


• Experience developing and executing a research project to completion.
• Experience writing and having published peer-reviewed scientific publications
• Experience in either the measurement of acoustic properties of materials or the modeling of acoustic properties of materials.

• Knowledge of the principles and practices of scientific investigation.

• Experience managing or working as part of multi-disciplinary research teams.
• Experience formulating, proposing, conducting, and leading research and development projects.

• Experience developing partnerships with research organizations for collaboration.

• Experience in both the measurement of acoustic properties of materials and the modeling of acoustic properties of materials.

• Experience with the measurement or modeling of acoustic metamaterials.
• Experience in the design and synthesis of acoustic materials

• Knowledge of military client needs, particularly the Royal Canadian Navy, defence scientific programs, or current defence technology.
• Knowledge of the theory of acoustic metamaterials.
• Knowledge of military naval platforms acoustic signature requirements.

• May be required to travel by commercial air, economy class, within North America several times a year for short durations (courses, conferences, meetings, trials, etc.)

Conditions of employment

Reliability Status security clearance – Must be willing and able to obtain and retain a Secret (Level II) security clearance.
